We found our new apartment!!!

O.M.G. I am SOOOOOO excited :) Our new apartment is AMAZING. The building has a garage (awesome for me since I drive to work), doorman, gym, pool, roof deck with BBQs, and a concierge service. Our unit is under construction right now, but it will be ready by the time our current lease expires. Get ready for a TON of interior decorating posts!!!

The floor plan:
Yes, the dining room & living room are completely windowed! We have unobstructed views facing north and of the East River.

Once the renovation is done, the kitchen will look like dis:
Absolutely LOVE the backsplash.

Weekend Recap:

On Friday night MFB and I went to see The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center. MFB had never seen it and I hadn't seen it since I was about 9 years old. Last year we saw the Christmas Spectacular at Rockefeller Center, but this WAY better. The music, dancing and costumes were absolutely beautiful. We found last year's Christmas Spectacular to be a little too gimmicky.
On Saturday I met MFK for a delicious lunch at Go Burger. MFK enjoyed a Bloody Mary & Grilled Cheese while I had the Shrimp Tacos & a Black/White Milkshake :) Then we met up with CLH to prepare for her holiday party. I made stuffing and potatoes and helped prep the apt for the big bash. Santa & The Elf even stopped by!

Review: The Homestead Inn in Greenwich, CT

My Dad and Step-Mom gave MFB and I a gift certificate to The Homestead Inn as our bridal shower gift back in June. We decided to save it and use it to kick off the holiday season since they decorate it so well for the holidays. The hotel is so cozy and you really do feel like you are staying in an old farmhouse. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in and we loved sitting by the fire with a cocktail. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a night or two out of the big city.

Our room:
On Saturday we got a lot of our Christmas shopping done on Greenwich Avenue. We stopped in Vineyard Vines, J.Crew, and Jonathan Adler. Then we met up with AT & MA for some coffee at Le Pain Quotidien and scoped out the goods at Richards & Betteridge. After we got the shopping out of our systems we were in need for some libations, so snagged a table at The Ginger Man and had spiked hot cider and wine. We were honored to have Brasha make an appearance and join us for a drink too!
MFB and I headed back to the hotel and we were greeted with a bottle of champagne from Dad & Pat to celebrate our 3-month wedding anniversary (haha)! I wore my new tunic from Tuckernuck to get in the Christmas spirit. We took our drinks downstairs and sat by the fire while we waited to be seated for dinner at Thomas Henkelmann. The food and the service was outstanding. After dinner we headed back to the fireplace to enjoy the Christmas decorations, music and a night cap (or two).
When we got back to the city we bought our tree :)

Apartment Hunting

MFB and I are beginning to research for a new apartment. We won't be able to start actually looking until January, but it is still nice to have a good sense of what is out there. While looking for 1-2 bedroom rentals is fun, dreaming about insanely beautiful brownstones is even better! My dream is to own an apartment in Carnegie Hill someday. Preferably in my "sweet spot" which is Madison Avenue in the low 90s. Here is the home I would buy today if I won the lottery:
Outdoor space galore!

Goyard on Gilt

The Investment Bag Featuring Goyard sale is on Gilt today. I'm not in the market to buy, but it is always fun to look! I purchased the hobo bag for myself on my 25th birthday (which is now discontinued), the wallet for my 26th, and the tote for my 28th this past September. While they are pricey I know I'll have and use them forever. The option to add monograms and small designs is also a great touch:
Gilt is also offering a ton of great sales for Marquee Monday great for holiday shopping

Holiday Gift Guide #1

Happy Thanksgiving!
MFB and I are heading to Boston today. We are so excited to see the fam and to catch up with MFB's high school friends. We are also thrilled to finally be meeting baby Hanlon at her christening. I hope everyone has a great holiday!

Here is the first of a series of gift guides I will be putting together over the next 2 weeks:

Weekend Recap

A Run Down Hero Highway was an amazing event. MFK came over in the morning and enjoyed some Dunkin Donuts coffee, bagels and munchkins with MFB and I before we went over to the west side. It was 21 degrees. It felt like 7. I have severe wind burn on my face, but it was worth it. What was advertised as a 5k turned into being a little over 4.5 miles, so I treated myself to a mani/pedi once it was over. Here's hoping it isn't as cold next year!

Lemon Sole Filet Roll Ups

This recipe from Barefoot In Boston has become a regular in our kitchen. It super easy and really quick to whip up last minute. MFB and I are OBSESSED with brussel sprouts (we like ours a little burnt and crispy), so I chose that for a side along with some rice pilaf. Here is what I did:
 Chopped up the sprouts:
Put the rice on the stove:
 Rinsed off the fish:
I rolled up the filets with lemon, butter, parsley, pepper and salt and baked for 15 minutes at 365. I cooked the sprouts on medium heat for about 10 minutes with olive oil, salt and pepper. This is a great recipe to try if you aren't too confident around the kitchen. Once you get the hang of it you can try experimenting with different herbs and seasoning. Enjoy!

So, a while back CLH and I won tickets in a silent auction to Watch What Happens Live. We were BEYOND excited. The package also came with a gift certificate to Morandi. We enjoyed fried artichoke and brussel sprouts for our appetizers and then CLH had veal milanese and I had lasagna. The most exciting part of the meal was that Princess Eugenie sat right behind us!
Zooming in:
Hard to tell, but it was her!
After dinner we cabbed over to the WWHL studios. Here is their pre-show menu:
CLH enjoyed a Mazel or two while I sampled the Clubhouse Classic. Next, we were ushered into the studio:
And then @BRAVOAndy made his appearance:

On ze phone all ze time.
The guests were Stassi & Jacks. Nuff' said. After the show we took some photos:

And then @BRAVOandy came back in to take a picture with us. I must preface this with saying that I WAS a HUGE Andy Cohen fan, but it is with a heavy heart that I must report he was not as friendly as he seems in person. I was so excited to meet Andy and get to say hello/take a picture, but he was SUCH a diva. He wouldn't even look at us! He ran in, smiled for the camera, and said NEXT! Wha?????? No me gusta! It was basically like finding out that Santa is not real. I'm sorry to burst your bubbles ladies, but he was not the loving and fun guy he seems to be on TV :( womp, womp. The only good thing that came out of this is that MFB will not have to endure anymore Bravo TV marathons. All I have to say to @DIVAandy is, NEXT!
