Weekend Recap:

Hope everyone had a great weekend! We are all moved in to our new apt :) I am so happy with how everything looks and I'm so excited to put the finishing touches on over the next few weeks. I'll post some pictures once everything is in place!

On Saturday MFB and I tried out Crank for the first time. I liked it MUCH better than Soul Cycle (it is less expensive too). The first time I ever went spinning was over the summer when my little sister took me to a Soul Cycle class. I left feeling a little traumatized...the instructor was #insaneindamembrane and I felt like I was trying to sit at the cool kids table at lunch, but wasn't welcome....womp, womp. Crank is a few blocks away from our apartment and from the moment we walked in I could tell it was going to be a better experience. We were greeted by the owner of the studio who told us not to worry and to just have fun. Two assistants were in the studio assisiting newcomers with their shoes and bikes. Even at the end of the class when one of my shoes got stuck, someone was over within seconds to help me get it out! Ariel, our instructor, explained the different positions and pushed us, but also let us know we didn't need to feel horrible about ourselves if we needed to take a break and just sit back and peddle for a moment. We will definitely be going back next weekend!
Saturday we met up Brasha, Merin, MM, & CLH for dinner at Dinosaur BBQ (hands down best BBQ in the city) and Luke Bryan @ MSG #grabbedourselvesalittlecatfishdinner:
Yes, he actually dances like this. All. concert. long. I am still a bit confused by it. Were we at Hunk-o-Mania or a country music concert? Hmmmmmm.....

Anywho, I'll be a little MIA this week unpacking and organizing, but I'll be back verrrrry soon!

Review: Le Paris Bistrot

Le Paris Bistrot is one of my favorite restaurants on the UES. They have an AMAZING $19 3 course pre-theater menu from 5-7pm. I went this week with two of my friends and I had the bronzino in lemon butter sauce with brussel sprouts on the side. The french onion soup, steak, chicken, and mussels are also great. It is a cozy little place and you really feel like you are back in Paris! I would highly recommend this place for a date night or small group (3-4 people) dinner. Happy Friday!

Gray Malin Inspired Living Room

Our current living room is very "pottery barn" and I'm dying to spice it up a bit. We currently have this couch and a "painting" of sailboats (purchased from BB&B circa 2004) and framed vintage New Yorker covers hanging above it. While the couch isn't stylistically what I'd go for now, it is insanely comfortable and will last for a long time. MANY years from now when we are no longer living in NYC, I'm envisioning it becomes the playroom/casual TV room sofa. For now I gotta work with it and dress it up with throw pillows and blankets! Here is one idea I came up with using artwork, throw pillows and a rug for bursts of color while leaving the couch, side tables and lamps white/clear:

Hope everyone had a great holiday! MFB and I had a great time in NY and Boston visiting family friends. The month of December was INSANITY with trips, parties, work, and events, so I'm aiming at keeping January as low key as possible. I'm really looking forward to a fresh start and focusing on my resolutions and goals. Here are 5 I hope to focus on and/or accomplish in 2014:
1. Get on a workout plan. I've gained about 10-15 pounds since the wedding (GAH!) and it needs to stop. I went from working out regularly to settling for the occasional jog here and there. I am going to start out by doing at least 45 minutes of cardio 3 times a week and take it from there.
2. Get my at-home desk organized. My desk at home is a mess. There are papers everywhere and in no particular order (bills, contracts, marriage stuff, gift certificates, etc), so I'm going to weed through it all and make folders/binders for everything.
3. Go through my closets and donate EVERYTHING I have not worn in the last year. My closets are packed to the brim and our new apartment has less closet space, so I really need get this done before the move.
4. Learn a new craft of some kind. I've always been interested in learning how to needlepoint or knit, so I'm going to get started on something like that this year. I've found these two places ( Pins & Needles and Annie & Co ) which are near my apartment, so I'm going to take some classes!
5. Take dance classes again. I've been involved in dance my entire life (tap, ballet, jazz, Irish step dance), but I haven't taken a class in about 2 years. It is such a great workout and makes me happy, so I need to keep it part of my life somehow. I found this dance studio near my apartment, Ballet Academy East, so I am going to push myself to attend regularly even though I'm scared and nervous about being out of practice.

Happy New Year!
