Kimara Ahnert on Gilt!

If you have an event coming up, head on over to Gilt City and purchase a faux lash and makeup application for $79 (originally $135). They are also offering a makeup lesson for $99 (originally $420!!!). I recommend Melissa and Anita for makeup. If you are in need of a facial, ask for Lianna!

Review: Ciao Bella Gelato

MFB and I are VERY lucky to live just a few blocks from Ciao Bella Gelato. They have some of the most unique flavors like Maple Ginger Snap and Key Lime Graham Cracker (these ice cream sandwiches are my fav). It is located on 92nd and Madison - perfect stop after a long walk in Central Park!

Review: The Little Owl

The Little Owl is our favorite restaurant in NYC. We had our very first date there and the food is absolutely delicious! It is near impossible to get a reservation, so what we usually do is try to show up as close to opening as possible (5:30pm) and put our names down and wait for a table. They will even let you give them your cell # so that you can wait at a nearby bar and have a few drinks while you wait....and it is ALWAYS worth the wait! Here a few staples we always order:

1. Gravy Meatball Sliders:
2. Broiled Halibut with corn, peas and pesto:
 3. Beignets with Nutella & rasberry sauce:

Weekend Recap:

On Friday I went to an engagement party for one of my good friends from NYU. On Saturday MFB and I met up with our good friends NRD for dinner at our FAV restaurant, The Little Owl. On Sunday MFB made me an amazing breakfast (mickey mouse shaped strawberry and walnut pancakes!) and got me Starbucks, a magazine and flowers! I went up to Westchester for Mother's Day lunch with the fam and then I came back to NYC and met MFK for manis, pedis and Burger Fi

Foolproof Lasagna:

Last week I had two of my girlfriends over for dinner. I decided to make lasagna, which is actually something I used to cook for Poppy & Dolly so they could keep it in the fridge and reheat it whenever they'd like. It is SO easy to make, especially after the creation of oven ready lasagna noodles. Here is what I did (and EPIC fail - I forgot to take a final product picture, but we all know what lasagna looks like!):
1. I made a meat sauce by sauteing some peppers and onions with a little salt/pepper and mixing in cooked beef and tomato basil sauce (this is FOOLproof, but it will taste a little better if you get more creative with seasonings and other veggies):
2. I put a small amount of tomato sauce on the bottom of the pan and made my first row of noodles:
3. Then I spread some ricotta cheese over the noodles & layered the meat sauce on top:
4. I placed my second row of noodles on top and repeated step 3:
5. I placed my third row of noodles on top and covered with more tomato sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese:
6. Bake covered at 375 for 30-40 minutes and then cook uncovered for about 10-15 minutes. Enjoy!

Weekend Recap:

I had such a great weekend seeing all of my extended family! On Saturday we had a joint birthday party for my Grandma May & her sister and on Sunday we had my cousin's bridal shower. Here is a pic of the littlest houlie cousin meeting her brand new 2nd cousin for the first time!
Since I had such busy days I stayed in both nights and rented Philomena and Labor Day. I highly recommend both!
