MFB and I spent an extended Labor Day Weekend in Paris to celebrate my 30th and our 2nd wedding anniversary! We had a really great time, but it was so hard being away from James. We are very blessed to have such loving family members who were willing to watch him while we went on our trip! 

We stayed at the Hotel West End which was in a great location. We had a beautiful room with a balcony and view of the Eiffel Tower:
On our first day we did some sightseeing on the Champs Elysees and went to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. That night we took an amazing tour of the city in a 2CV convertible with a bottle of champagne. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip and we highly recommend!
The next day was my birthday, so we did some shopping on Saint-Germain and grabbed lunch at Les Deux Magots. Afterwards, we took a long walk along the Seine. 
That night, MFB took me to the most romantic dinner at Laperouse. This place has been here since 1766 and the creaky floors and decor really bring you back in time. We did a tasting menu and were not given menus, so we weren't even sure what we were eating most of the time, but it was an exciting experience! The highlight was dessert - chestnut and caramel souffle. 
The next day we did the Eiffel Tower and Montmartre.
On Monday we took a trip to Normandy and had lunch at this charming hotel. We toured the beaches and American Cemetery. Definitely worth the trip if you are visiting Paris for a few days. 
We had originally planned to continue on to Hotel du Cap, but we just couldn't bare the thought of being away from James for that long. Hopefully we will make it there next year!

The Best Way To Cook Bacon

I recently learned this trick for cooking perfectly crisp bacon and it works like a charm. Lay bacon on tin foil over a cookie sheet, place another piece of tin foil over the bacon and put another cookie sheet on top and press down. Place in oven for around 15 minutes at 400 and enjoy!

Weekend Recap!

We had another beautiful weekend in NYC with the little guy. We had a picnic by the sailboat pond in Central Park on Saturday and relaxed at the NYAC on Sunday. JMB loves being in the water! 

I tried this new pasta recipe on Friday night and it was delicious! I found it while watching the Today Show (KLG & Hoda hour) and it is so easy. You put basil, tomato, brie, salt, pepper, and garlic in a bowl, add your pasta while it's still hot, and voila! I'm not a huge garlic fan, so I only used 2 cloves instead of the recommended 3.  It was still a little much, so next time I'll only use one. I also added shrimp to mine :)
